The San Francisco 49ers will pursue trade scenarios involving Colin Kaepernick in the offseason.

Kaepernick will see respected specialist Dr. Peter Millett in Vail, Colorado, on Tuesday, and the expectation is that he'll have surgery to repair a fully torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder that day. 

Kaepernick's $11.9 million in 2016 injury-guaranteed salary becomes fully guaranteed on April 1.

If he's not on the team next year, it'll hit them with $7 million in dead money against the salary cap.

Washington didn't receive any offers for Robert Griffin III, who hasn't played at all this season.

The $16.155 million on option on Griffin was picked up by Washington last spring in a move Bruce Allen called a no-brainer at the time.

Griffin's injury history made it a gamble, as did the fact that Jay Gruden didn't believe in him.

Multiple NFL people, from assistant coaches to executives, speculated that any team trading for Griffin might feel they need to change their offense to suit him. This would make an in-season acquisition difficult for any team.

The Denver Broncos nearly acquired Joe Thomas from the Cleveland Browns before the trade deadline.

The two sides were unable to agree upon terms.

According to Dianna Marie Russini, the Browns were close to sending Thomas and a fourth round pick in 2016 to the Broncos for a first and second round pick in 2016.

Vernon Davis has been traded by the San Francisco 49ers to the Denver Broncos.

The 49ers will acquire the Broncos' sixth round pick in 2016 and 2017, while also sending Davis and their own seventh rounder in 2017.

"The key here is how quick can we get him involved, and I think we can do that very fast," Gary Kubiak said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "That's why we made the move, because we want to get him in here, get him as involved as we possibly can and help this offense continue to move forward."

Davis, who has 441 receptions for 5,640 yards and 55 touchdowns in his career, should be a natural fit for the Broncos.

Vernon Davis said it is possible he could be traded by the San Francisco 49ers before Tuesday's deadline.

Davis will become a free agent in the offseason.

"It's a possibility; you know there's nothing I can do about it," Davis said Sunday, via the Sacramento Bee. " ... I'm a positive believer. I believe everything works its way out for the good for those who are good people. But I'm always prepared for anything. Nothing new surprises me."

The Cleveland Browns are engaged in trade talks on Joe Thomas and Alex Mack.

Thomas and Mack have been two of the Browns' best players for several seasons and are two of the best offensive linemen in the NFL.
